Situated at the end of a 200 yard drive, Hewitt's Hotel is set amidst 27 acres of woodland and cliff and is very secluded. The gardens are a haven for wildlife and you can walk through the grounds to the harbour below. The famous cliff railway runs between the towns of Lynton and Lynmouth. The hotel is minutes from the centre of Lynton and 500 ft above Lynmouth harbour.
Behind the hotel there are no roads, only the North Devon Coastal Path where you can walk for miles through the magnificent scenery of the Exmoor National Park. Within minutes you can be in the Valley of the Rocks.

Hewitt's was built in one of the most beautiful postitions in the area, a perfect place to enjoy the variety the changing seasons have to offer. You can enjoy the breathtaking vista from the 150 ft terrace of the hotel, where on sunny days breakfast and afternoon tea and served, and on more chilly evenings, you can relax around the log fire in the splendid lounge or in the beautiful oak panelled bar.

You can treat yourself to a candlelit dinner on the oak panelled dining room with views across the sea to Wales. A wide choice of Italian and French dishes are availabel together with a selection of fine wines.

The spectacular combination of sweeping moorland with high rugged tree clad cliffs and enticing sheltered bays is unique to Lynton and Lynmouth. The countryside retains the quiet charm which caused the Victorians to name it 'the Little Switzerland of England'.

Not far away is the town of Barnstaple with its Victorian Pannier Market and modern shops. There are various National Trust properties in the area and many places of interest to visit, including the famous Rosemoor Gardens. Once the private home of a distinguished Victorian gentleman, Sir Thomas Hewitt, now an elegant and comfortable Country House Hotel set in a wonderfully dramatic location. The character of the house has been retained. There is a sweeping oak staircast leading up to the stained glass window by Burne-Jones and the original fire places remain in both lounges and the bar.
